|
| 1.) There are currently 12 Imac Computers in the lab. Desired is the replacement of the G5 Macintosh with Imacs. Most importantly for the consistency of software. Current we are using 2 different versions of the Creative Suite. This difficulty has made instruction confusing (to the students) and often impossible. It is hoped (to save money) Graphics would receive Imac computers from other programs, moving in another direction. 10-14 computers would meet the needs of the incoming classes (as well as the office computer).
2.) A wall mounted presentation system to cover the "3 pods" would allow for state of the art instruction. This could be accomplished with 3 large flat screens being mounted over the work stations so students only need to lean back to follow along at their computer. To accompany these displays should be a sound system for the instructor. This system would need t be "tied together" for demonstration and instructional purposes. The displays do not need to be LCD, especially if cost are prohibitive.
3.) An additional color output device (either laserprinter or digital press) is important to consider, especially since our current output devices are aging. This device would preferably be able to print duplex, 12"X18", high resolution and have features for on-line bindery. This is a considerable investment and depending on the vendor and/or option could range in price from $6,000-$20,000. One consideration might be a lease arrangement as well as a District-Wide usage agreement, cover justify cost.
4.) Installment of the SAME, most current Creative suite, lab-wide is requested. |

| I still feel we need tablets, not only for travel to other districts but for responsibilities within the building (meetings away from the office, disciplines, lab visitations). All our desktop files would then be available at a glance - and we wouldn't have to print everything. |

| Color printers for the Franklin and Lebanon PLTW sites. Printers should be able to do normal printing but also print as many as 15 color images per student (anticipated 50 students each at Franklin and Lebanon).....i.e. these do not need to be high end/expensive printers. A second option would be to keep black and white printers at both satellite locations, but increase Mr. Little's color printing allowance to 1500 sheets. Actually, this would mean installing a new printer at Lebanon regardless, since it is a startup operation. |

| Last year, we discussed doing a one-to-one classroom with laptops, however, I was wondering if new equipment is being planned, what the Tech Department's thought is of the All-In-One Desktops? The ones I seen at my previous company had a small tower attached to the back of the monitor. A lot cleaner, less wires, etc. My lab needs no more than 15 - 20 seats. |

| 1. New Laptops with twisting touchscreens to convert to tablets – one for each Teacher Academy student plus a few additional as backups. These laptops need to be equipped with Windows, Microsoft Office, Adobe Professional, and Google Docs capabilities. The new laptops would enable Teacher Academy to be a paperless classroom. The students would be able to use the tablet feature during their internship, instead of completing a binder full of paperwork, because they can utilize the "draw" function in Adobe professional. The tablet would not be a distraction to the children in their internship classes as the bulkiness of a regular laptop which could also prevent the Teacher Academy students from seeing everything that was occurring in their internships. The software will allow the students to be taught how to use each of them and they can utilize them when creating presentation and their portfolio. The students will leave Teacher Academy ready to use the various softwares in college and later as a teacher.
2. Interactive White Board (at Lebanon) – as well as an updated Interactive White Board in my class at the WCCC so the technologies will be the same. This will allow my students to use and become familiar emerging technologies so they will be able to effectively use them in college and later as a teacher.

| I am requesting an ipad for my use in the classroom. The ipad is mobile and lightweight. In an effort to reduce the paper use in my class I would use the ipad to view the lesson plans from instead of the making paper copies to teach from. When I teach I move around the room and the laptop is not conducive to mobility. The ipad would also allow me to introduce various apps into the lesson plans thus pushing my class toward a 21st century learning. the approximate cost for the ipad between $600 and $700 plus protective case. I am also requesting renewal of In the Line of Duty Learning video/training $1000.00 |

| We discussed each of these items at our Fall advisor committee meeting. Everyone was in agreement, each of these items would be welcome additions/changes to our existing program. Consistant computers and software will allow for more effective instruction and demonstration. The display system would enhance the classroom experience, as well as provide for much more effective instruction. The digital color output device is extremely relevant, to providing our students to be successful Graphic Designers. Our advisory committee is ask at every meeting the importance and relevance of the "print" side of design. Each time the response is "Graphic Designers would cannot make files printable are one dimensional, ineffective and unemployable". Output has also been retained in each revision state curriculum. |

| Location is at Kings in room A140. I am not sure how this upgrade works, but I imagine it has to do with updating the computer, so it would be excellent if it could happen before we start back to school or shortly thereafter. |

| I would like to have these ready for the start of the 2013-14 school year. I have received training for Chromebooks a few times so I know how to use them.
Also, the old laptop cart and portable battery chargers need to be removed from my classroom (this could be done at any time-I do not use them at all).
Thanks! |
